No infant should have to suffer birth injuries because a medical professional acted negligently during his or her birth. Birth injuries can have significant impacts on an infant's life. Thus, it is very important for medical professionals who are providing care in connection to the delivery of a child to not commit negligence which could cause such injuries to occur.
Recently, a birth injury case has arisen in Texas. The case involves a woman who reportedly gave birth to a son in September of 2009.
Reportedly, an obstetrician provided care in connection to the delivery of the woman's son. The woman alleges that this obstetrician committed negligence while providing this care. Specifically, the woman claims that the obstetrician failed to engage in appropriate medical decision-making in connection to her son's delivery and also failed to use proper maneuvers during her son's delivery.
The woman claims that this alleged negligence caused her son to get injured.
The woman has brought a medical malpractice lawsuit on behalf of her son in connection to these allegations. A medical clinic and the above-mentioned obstetrician have been named as defendants in this lawsuit. According to the Victoria Advocate article which reported this story, this lawsuit is asking for damages.
As the allegations in this case underscore, infants can suffer great harm when medical professionals act negligently when providing care in connection to the delivery of a child. Thus, one hopes that medical professionals are held accountable when they provide negligent care during the delivery of a child.
